Circa: 1875 ~ Edward Patrick and wife Mary Ann Tabor in front of their humble home, a simple bushman's build, circa 1860s. The structure is comprised of round ironbark corner posts in the ground with vertical timber slabs on the side walls, insulated with hessian and mud. The verandah frontage shows horizontal slab panels and a window. The main roofing and awnings maybe a patchwork of repurposed metals and canvas.
Sources:Beverley Earnshaw 'A Century of Pioneers" (1984), states their home dwelling was on the Carcoar Road, Blayney. Images courtesy of photographer Susanne Kitchener nee’ Griffiths ~ 1982.
Circa: 1885 ~ Mary Ann Patrick nee Tabor appears pregnant, standing in front of a more substantial multi room cottage. This later home may have been on the same site a decade later circa 1890, Carcoar Road, Blayney. The floor was probably compressed earth and the same on the verandah where potted plants in fruit crates seem ready for planting.
The woodwork in their vintage cottage comprised vertical slabs on the facade and below the verandah beam was a scalloped fascia running trim. The verandah had a skillion roof off the main house which had a gabled roofline of corrugated metal.
The owner builder probably did not own tools like an adze to square the posts.

We can assume an affinity closeness between the Ewin and Patrick families, as three marriages were celebrated between them in 1895/96. The names of Sarah, Jane and Irene appear in the Luck Family Bible (circa 1880) also as recordings of deaths of family members.
Irene Elizabeth Mary Ewin was subject to a 'Coroners Inquiry' of September 1904, when a finding was death from:“Shock, consequence upon severe burns accidentally received at Lime Kilns. Irene was 3 years and 10 months”. Jane Ewin was also subject of a 'Coroners Inquiry' of November 1924, as her death resulted from a fall from a sulky.
