Dave Kuehnle submitted his resignation from the village codes officer position effective April 15, 2016. Mayor Tony Brindisi expressed thanks to Kuehnle for his service and said the village is looking for a replacement.

Herkimer Planning Board
The Herkimer Planning Board is recommending the village of Herkimer take steps to improve codes enforcement.
Planning Board Chairman Brion Carroll told the village board the Planning Board would like to see the village “establish predictable means of enforcing existing codes.”
Carroll recommended that the village should require residential occupancy permits for rental properties with yearly inspections to ensure they are safe for people to live in them.
Codes governing multi-use buildings should be formalized.
Carroll presented the board with laws other communities have adopted to deal with these same matters.
Village Clerk Amanda Viscomi posted local laws dealing with property maintenance and codes issues on the village website to make them more accessible to residents.
