ARTICLE I, Incorporation
C-1. Boundaries.
The territory comprised within the following limits shall constitute the Village of Ilion: Beginning at a point in the center line of the channelized Mohawk River and Barge Canal, thence S. 79° 25' W., 1,136.4 feet to a point in the division line between the Towns of German Flatts and Frankfort; thence running southerly along said line, S. 26° 39' W., 3,566.4 feet to a point, said point being 150 feet southerly of the intersection of the south line of Newton Street extended westerly to said town line; thence easterly on a line parallel with and 150 feet southerly from the south line of Newton Street extended westerly, S. 75° 15' E., 1,381.5 feet to a point in the westerly line of Barringer Road; thence southerly along the westerly line of Barringer Road to the southeasterly corner of lands now or formerly of Mary and Virginia Caiola; thence westerly along the southerly line of Caiola, 141± feet to the southwest corner thereof; thence northerly along the westerly line of Caiola, 225± feet to the northwest corner thereof; thence westerly along the southerly line of lands of the Loyal Order of the Moose, 34± feet to the southwest corner thereof; thence northerly along the west line of lands of the Loyal Order of the Moose to the northwest corner thereof; thence easterly along the northerly line of the Loyal Order of the Moose, 50± feet to a point; thence northerly along the westerly line of lands of Fannie DeJohn and Carl and Leona Burton to a point in the southerly line of lands of Harry Huyck; thence westerly along said line, 100± feet to the southwest corner of lands of Harry Huyck; thence northerly along the westerly line of lands of Huyck to a point in the division line between lands of Huyck and lands now or formerly of Belding; thence westerly along the south line of Belding, 697± feet to a point; thence southerly along the easterly line of lands now or formerly of Frank and Jenny DeJohn, 1,129± feet to a point in the northerly line of lands of Spotola; thence easterly along the northerly line of Spotola, 959± feet to a point in the easterly line of Barringer Road; thence southerly along the easterly line of Barringer Road to the point of intersection of the division line between lands formerly of Loren DeLong (now Doty) on the north and John Devendorf (now Harris) on the south; thence easterly along said division line and an extension of the same easterly to the westerly line of lands of Donald R. § C-2. Powers of corporation.
The inhabitants of said village shall be a corporation by the name of the "Village of Ilion" and may sue and be sued, complain and defend in any court, make and use a common Seal and alter it at pleasure and may receive, by gift, grant, devise, bequest or purchase, and hold and convey such real and personal estate as the purposes of the corporation may require and may take and hold real and personal estate in trust for any purpose of education, art, health, charity or amusement for parks and gardens, library or other public use and for the erection of statues, monuments and public buildings, upon such terms as may be prescribed by the grantor or donor and accepted by the corporation; and it may provide for the proper execution of such trusts; and it may do everything necessary to carry into effect the powers granted to it.
