Ingredients
1/4 cup sugar
5 cups self-rising flour
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1 cup vegetable shortening, melted & cooled (lard will work if you can't find shortening)
1 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
Preheat oven to 450°.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Cut in wet ingredients and knead well.
Cut into circles and place on baking sheet.
Let rest 5 minutes before placing in oven.
Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Add a pat of butter after removing from oven.
