Marion Clifford-Butler, Baroness Dunboyne, was the daughter of Col. Henry Morgan Clifford and Catherine Harriet Yorke. She was born about 1838, and married on 12 June, 1860, James Fitzwalter Butler, Baron Dunboyne. Because Marion was the only surviving child and sole heir of her father, special license was granted by the Queen in 1860 to change their surname to Clifford-Butler, in order to perpetuate both family names. The couple had one daughter.
Marion mostly wrote children's literature, but also one novel, Elmore.
