Bio:
Emma Catherine Embury was born on 25 February 1806 in New York City to Dr. James R. Manley and Elizabeth Post. As a youuth, she became a regular contributor of juvenile verse and stories to the New York Mirror. She married Daniel Embury, a Brooklyn based banker on 10 May 1828.
She wrote novels, poetry, reference, and short stories, and also served with Ann S. Stephens as one of two "lady editors" for Graham's Magazine in Philadelphia.
Emma died on 10 February 1863.
