Ann Katharine King was born about 1835 in Mount Coote, Limerick Ireland to John Wingfield King and Alicia Coote. She was the sister of Henry Edward King, a prominent Australian politician in the mid-19th century, with whom she lived for many years. Her novel, Lost for Gold, is set in Australia.
