Bio:
Elizabeth Caroline Duncan was born in 1798, but the details of her life are very vague, and such accounts as we have are questionable. She was the niece of a famous actress of the 18th century, Miss Duncan. Elizabeth married Colonel Grey, who was a reporter for the Morning Chronicle. She worked at a London girls' school and wrote both silver fork novels and sensational works. She also possibly also some"Penny Dreadfuls", but there is question if those attributed to her were truly penned by Elizabeth or another popular writer of the day.
Elizabeth's works are often tangled up in the "Mrs. Grey conundrum". There were five "Mrs. Grey"s (Mary Caroline, Elizabeth Caroline, Catherine Maria, Anna Maria, and Mary Georgina) publishing novels at the same period and their works are often confused.
