Bio: Dorothea Gerard was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland on August 9, 1855. Her parents were Archibald Gerard and Euphemia Erskine Robison. Her sister, Emily Gerard, was also an writer.
Dorothea was primarily educated at home, with a governess, but was later sent to a convent school in Austria.
She married Captain Julius Longard, of the 7th Austrian Lancers in 1887. She Spent much of her life in Austria.
She died September 29, 1915 in Vienna.
