Bio: Amelia Anderson was born November 12, 1769 to Dr. James and Amelia Anderson in Norwich England. In 1798, she married the painter, John Opie. He died nine years later.
Her first published work was Father and Daughter in 1801. After its publication, she began to regularly publish novels until her last novel in 1828. She was a friend of notable writers, Sir Walter Scott and Madame de Stael.
She died of illness December 2, 1853 in Norwich, England. She was buried at the Gildencroft Quaker Cemetery in Norwich. A biography of her life was published in 1854.
