Note: This article/blog was in response to and inspired by an article on the Berkeley University's website, I posted a link at the bottom of the page.
The Capitalist system we live under is the root cause of most psychological and emotional trauma. We are programmed since birth (as were our ancestors) to conform to a covert form of slavery. This economic environment disables (or distorts, distracts, corrupts, etc.) higher reasoning and emotional circuits within our consciousness and subconsciousness. Our world system turns over control and ownership of the vast and abundant land and all other prime resources to few people who use their unlimited economical wealth to manipulate all layers of social, political and business systems, as well as the structure of the economic system itself.
We've been conformed to value economic status over morality and ethics, affecting the well-being of humanity as a whole, more precisely we’ve become apathetic or indifferent to the wellbeing of others who aren't within our own purview, we tend to put our personal social circles (family, friends, etc.) first, and that’s because we don’t have much of a choice when we are struggling economically, this strains all of our relationships to the point of psychological and emotional trauma.
It's not that we don't care about others we don't know, it's that we as individuals are forced by economic roadblocks to not be able to help, so we stuff it down and take care of only the ones we can directly around us, and many lash out at the less fortunate as if they are sub-human or less, perpetuating the psychological and emotional traumas in all parties in many ways. This system we live under has so deeply programmed our collective psyche that most people don't see the big picture problem, even though it surrounds and engulfs us throughout our entire existence from birth to death, a repeated cycle perpetrated by our past generations up until today, and is being made worse as we move towards future generations if we don’t do something about it. We just need enough people to recognize this detrimental flaw, that debt must be ended or our future generations will be perpetual debt slaves, indefinitely, or until humanity destroys itself and the planet. New ideas should be considered in a serious manner, putting aside the programmed politics that thinks in the closed-minded views of money (how much? Where will it come from?, etc.), money is just an ‘idea’ that was made up, hence it can be changed, but people must recognize that fact and be more open to better ideas that will work for all life on Earth.
We must look forward into the future and envision what kind of world, what kind of lives, what kind of society will our children and grandchildren have? Will they still be under a system of debt slavery? We’ve already mostly built the homes we need, and created advanced technological systems that enable the mass production of all the basic necessities (and more) of life in abundance, more than enough for everyone, and we've built most of the infrastructure and installed the logistical and automated systems that make production and distribution operate smoothly and efficiently with less and less human labor. The current economic system of capitalism is the wrench in the gears holding back true social stability and meaningful human connection (the connection of Love and Community).
There are several good ideas out there, ideas like The Venus Project and many others where there is no form of money, nor a barter system, all resources will be free, because abundance is already available due to advances in technology, science and logistics, but currently that abundance is held hostage for monetary gain by a very wealthy few, some of which who crave power and control and manipulate systems and world events to remain in control. In these new systems there is no hoarding of resources, no poverty, and no debt and everything is free.
These ideas are logical and achievable but the hardest or most delicate part to reaching that new system is the transition into such a system, many of those ideas for a new system are the end goal, but we must come up with an in-between transitional system to get there. The reason being, is because, sadly, people are groomed, programmed and addicted to the current capitalist system, and that system consumes our time and energy with long work hours and unjust debt obligations, so most people are just too tired and distracted to find uninterrupted time to think about and recognize the real root problems of the world, much less how to try to solve them.
There is a good idea that would work as a transitional system away from capitalism towards the end goal money-free system, that socio-economic system is called Life’s Optimal Virtuous Economy (or LOVE for short) which takes full advantage of current communications and automation technologies to streamline, simplify and organize production and distribution processes. Here’s a little about the LOVE socio-economic system. It’s not fully explained in writing yet, but this website has many of the basic important concepts. But in order to better understand it one must first have an open, analytical, unbiased mind, which is difficult for some people to do in our current society, but we must all try and figure something out or we will never achieve a better world for our future generations. The LOVE system will free us from debt, as well as free up our time to grow psychologically, emotionally and spiritually by eliminating the stress and worries that come with living in our current corrupt capitalist system.
