Boomers, Technology & Antiquated Economic Theory
It’s very frustrating talking to someone from an older generation (such as republican/conservative boomers but not all of them, and even most democrat boomers) who are stuck in their old familiar ways, and lack-of-knowledge ways, and their stubborn refusal to put the mental effort (work) in to “learn” about the “modern” world, about basic stuff like how the “input” button for their tv works to access the various peripherals (Cable box, DVD player, Bluray player, VCR, a Personal Computer connected to the TV as a Movie Server, etc) or Apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon). For example, they don’t understand how those peripherals can still be operating (playing) off-screen even when you switch to a different input peripheral.
(Note: I should add some real-life conversations I regularly have with my step-dad, my mom, and other family and friends to put it into a better perspective of how uninformed they are.)
Once you realize how little they know about technology, the government, or the money system, it becomes clear that they shouldn’t be able to vote for our leaders, because their knowledge isn’t nearly up to par to be able to “know” what we (humanity) are capable of technologically, such as in the production of goods (food, products, etc.) and the various services (transport, energy, automation services, etc.). They lack knowledge and understanding of the modern world which hinders their ability to make intelligent informed decisions that will influence and direct the socio-political-economic systems of our modern world. In short, they are stuck in the past, holding everyone else back from reaching our full potential because of their ignorance (lack-of-knowledge) and bullheadedness.
Since they are too lazy or uninterested in gaining new knowledge about the world and our technological capabilities to mass-produce resources these days, they don’t have the basic knowledge or understanding to be able to make “informed” decisions on who should be our leaders (president, senate, etc.) or what kind of socioeconomic system we should have.
If they are stuck in their old-fashioned ways of thinking, they don’t understand at all what some of the progressive thinkers that run for office are even suggesting or talking about, they just don’t listen once they hear “trigger” words or phrases like “free”, or “medicare-for-all”, or “socialism”. Those that lack modern knowledge end up resorting to calling the progressives “fuckin’ socialist” or some other indoctrinated kneejerk negative response or reaction, they call people “socialist!” like it’s some kind of insult or bad name or something. To them, socialism is a bad word or bad system because of the propaganda they were indoctrinated with when they were younger, and even today they are still told/fed that same propaganda/belief/lie by places like FOX News and even other mainstream media networks that are just trying to protect their economic status-quo, such as CNN and MSNBC and other networks. And because of many people’s antiquated knowledge and understanding of the world, they lack an updated world view, which causes millions of people to continue suffering and dying when they don’t need to be. We live in a modern world of great abundance, NOT scarcity. Scarcity was a reality in the past, but now it’s not the reality of the present modern-day world.
If they can’t even understand their own tv functions, or shall I say “don’t want to understand it”, how can they even begin to understand the capabilities of modern technologies that are (or can be) implemented to quickly and efficiently create abundance for everyone without very much human labor at all? It’s very frustrating, knowing that this person is going to vote for someone that thinks (if you can call that “thinking”, it’s more like “not-thinking”) like them, that has no clue about the modern world or our capabilities. By putting in the effort/work/thought into understanding the capabilities of modern technology, that would help enable them to understand how and why the economic/currency system can and should be updated to lift all of humanity up, ending poverty, hunger, homelessness, crime, war, pollution, climate change, and everything else I talk about in my other writings about my proposed LOVE System (which I recently renamed to “The LOVE Union” or “Life’s Optimal Virtuous Economic Union”).
