Movie Review & More: The Oath (2018)

Movie, The Oath (2018)

Even though this is kind of a crude movie, the movie intelligently portrays how situations can get out of control very quickly. Even though it’s a fiction movie it still very accurately depicts how human emotion and people’s beliefs (derived from intelligent critical thinking or ignorance) can escalate a situation out of control. Yet, it also showed that differences can be settled and that people can forgive one another. But the story doesn’t truly get to the root of the problem (the deep-seeded problem of the human condition), which is Capitalism. Money has been planted at the root base of our thinking and decision making software, it’s so deeply seeded in our consciousness and subconscious that it’s more like firmware (if you understand computers) which means society automatically thinks in a money mindset, as if it’s natural.

Most people don’t ever seem to truly question the money system of the world with any true critical thinking for any decent amount of time (most will only give it a moment's thought in most cases, which isn’t enough time to fully explore the depth of the subject matter, instead it takes days, and weeks, and months, and years or even decades to properly process the details and fullness of the information and various aspects of many subject matters which are all interlinked), because the system is designed to keep people distracted by many things, with survival through monetary means being the biggest distractor, keeping people in debt and working 40+ hours a week struggling to pay bills is the most common and prominent of distractors because it keeps people too busy working chasing money, in turn making people too tired to think about such intricate in-depth topics such as the world’s problems, from crime, to poverty, to war, to the psychological state of the average family unit and citizens, our social structure and the state of social cohesion, the driving forces behind our psychology. Without proper time put into thinking about these issues, and how those issues connect and relate to one another, all of them have an underlying cause, Capitalism.

The firmware programming goes back many generations and is passed forward (programmed into consciousness) by our own families, teachers, peers, and society as a whole around us.

Problems within the family unit (and society as a whole) are usually based in money problems, how much we have, how much that costs, where are we gonna get the money for that, etc. Parents teach their children how to conform to the system controlling us with an invisible hand (debt), the parents don’t realize that they are setting their kids up to be slaves to an apathetic, uncompassionate man-made money system of control, it need not be this way, we can do better. The psychological depths and intricacies of the human condition go very deep and require higher self-awareness and objective critical thinking.

What it comes down to is that most people most likely won’t enter into those higher realms of thinking, at least not in our current paradigm that keeps them too busy and distracted. At some point, enough people need to at least trust someone of deeper understanding and who also has good ideas of how to create a better system of organization, but they must not let themselves get fooled into a worse system by an ignorant, unenlightened and/or malevolent authoritarian dictatorship. Yet, much of the world is waiting for a specific benevolent dictator in a sense, although “dictator” is not technically the correct word, but the person many people are waiting for is known a Jesus. Other religions are waiting for the same person (or allies and friends of Jesus) to come save them. But religion has indoctrinated people to believe Jesus will come in some kind of X-Men miracle type way, flying in or beaming them up instead of the way the story of Jesus goes down in the Gospels, the story is a sort of cautionary tale, so people can recognize it and not make the same mistake so quickly.

The story of Jesus is written with many metaphors and parables but also portrays him as a regular human being who can still be hurt and killed just like anyone else. Jesus has much human experience, knowledge and understanding of the human condition as well as the world systems and the underlying causes of humanity’s problems, and how to fix them. But how are people going to believe him? Will his coming out bring about the happenings of the Gospels, where many people reject him, because in our current society it’s become difficult to put that much trust in anyone for such a powerful leadership role? Would watching Jesus die suddenly awaken people’s hearts with compassion and remorse? After witnessing his death would it finally put humanity on the right path as long as he leaves behind his knowledge and wisdom of how to change the world into a better place and heal the human condition? Must he fulfill the prophetic story of the Gospels? Or is the story there for people to not allow that same mistake to happen? Or is the story there so that Jesus can recognize the foretold events of his life as they begin to take place and try to change the course of the events?

But of course, Christian thinking and doctrine doesn’t even come close to thinking in this manner, they are mostly set in their thinking and beliefs long passed down through traditional teachings and misinterpretations from the church and structured into the core of the religion itself. Would Jesus agree with Christian doctrine and what’s been done in his name? If you were a personal friend of Jesus in the flesh but didn’t know he is Jesus, would he like how you conduct your own life? Would he approve of your emotional demeanor and how you treat others?

At some point someone of intelligence, compassion, empathy and benevolence needs to take the mantle so to speak, or shall I say become elected into a leadership position, a leadership position that will allow him to recruit other intelligent and benevolent people to help him change the system of the world to one of benevolence, compassion, empathy and Love.

I realize the fine line of risks. An incorrect judgment of character on the voter’s part could end up appointing the wrong person into that powerful of a leadership role, who could then become a malevolent power-hungry authoritarian. Sadly this is likely what many people would mistakenly believe Jesus to be, especially if he claimed to be Jesus. Jesus would begin to make such quick and seemingly drastic changes to our governmental and economic systems that many people would become fearful, mainly because people in our society fear change, they fear things will be taken away from them, fear that they won’t be able to provide for their families, but it's quite the contrary, in a short time those people will realize that he is truly making their lives better, because they will have everything they need and more, a home, food, clothes, clean running water, electricity, phone, internet, transportation, healthcare, education and more. Everyone would have full opportunity for growth and have the ability to achieve their full potential and personal goals, and have as many vocations and hobbies as they want.

The more educated a society becomes, the better society functions, innovates and progresses towards an even better world. A social system in which each of us “knows” that everyone has the same human rights, which includes full access to any and all the same resources to not only survive, but to truly “live”, and “flourish”! An end to all poverty and struggle for survival, no one will be left behind, no matter what mistakes and bad choices they have made in the past... forgiveness and a fresh start for Everyone.

Well, this started out as a movie review and may have seemingly got sidetracked, but it is actually very relevant as to why people act and react the way they do, it all has deep psychological roots derived from a failing antiquated socioeconomic, religious, and governmental system.

Until next time, stay on the road of enlightenment and Love!

I Love You!
