In the video below, Richard Wolff talks about the inherent fallacies with the Capitalist system and how Socialism can help society as long as it’s ran like it’s meant to be ran, by We the People instead of the wealthy 1% and corrupt government.
We currently have a Democratic Socialist running for president, his name is Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders understandably never mentions one of the originator's of Socialist ideas, named Karl Marx. There is an underlying taboo within society surrounding the name Karl Marx because of the progressive and controversial views and philosophies he proposed. Marx was critical of the inherent fallacies of Capitalism.
It’s likely that Bernie Sanders used his own powers of deduction and analytical abilities to figure it out the inherent problems of the political and monetary systems on his own without having to read Karl Marx. I’ve never known of Karl Marx till recently and have still never read any of his work, yet on my own I was able to vividly deduce the inherent problems with capitalism as well as the current state of the human condition and much more about the workings of the world.
All it takes is stepping back and truly taking the time and energy to deeply analyze the world around you, but the problem is that the system doesn’t allow much time for too much thinking because the system requires us to make money just to survive. The control systems keep us distracted from thinking too much.
Anyway, even though there is a negative connotation in society about the name Marx, don't let the mention of Marx deter you from watching this video. Richard Wolff mainly talks about the history of Marx in the beginning of the video and then just a couple other times later to point out that the ideas are not new.
If you want to skip the history of Karl Marx to the more relevant part, skip to 9:26, but I still recommend watching the whole video if you can find the time, which is only 31 minutes.
This video puts forth a great explanation of why Capitalism Doesn't Work and how the true problem is Systemic, in other words an inherently Bad System.
Richard Wolff talks about Bernie Sanders and puts into perspective why Bernie Sanders is the Right Choice to bring about real meaningful change for the betterment of society. Wolff talks about the ideology of Democratic Socialism, which he terms “Democratize the Enterprise” to bring about a political, economical and psychological revolution.
