“Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! The fire alarm HAS been ACTIVATED! All occupants must EVACUATE THE BUILDING. Go to the nearest exit and EVACUATE THE BUILDING. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!”
This isn’t fiction everybody. All of us who’ve chosen in-person have heard it. The new fire alarm. Yes, the new one that talks. It’s very spooky how it does that, but that’s not the point. The point is, it’s full of mysteries, and we’re going to solve them.
First off, there’s the cogitation about the flashing lights. Probably just an innocent way to alert the deaf about the fire alarm. Or is it?
Of course, there’s the curiosity of the strange new beep. Is it better than the old one? Perhaps we’ll never know. I personally prefer the former beep as it was lower and didn’t hurt my ears as much. But what is a beep without its ear-piercing beep?
And then we must always ask ourselves: where does the beep come from? I, Defne, have done a bit of detective work on that. It is conceivably likely that it comes from the plafond, also known as the ceilings, of our classrooms. But, peculiarly, the beeps become profoundly more raucous and noisy when you enter the hallway. We may ponder on this, but we may not conceive an explanation.
And, of course, there are other questions to be asked. Why did the school change the fire alarm? Who even changed it anyway? And who is The Voice of the Fire Alarm? In the next edition of The Mystery of the Fire Alarm, I, Defne, will crack these cases, interview the questioned, and do some other super-cool-detective-y things! Stay tuned!
