Farewell, Lake Bluff! Some students say goodbye to our school for the last time, others are comforted by the fact that they will go back to school as soon as the leaves begin to turn crimson once again. Either way, we’re bound to have some fun during our summer vacation. For the first few weeks, that is. After that, it’s all just boredom and… more boredom.
So how do we solve that? If you ask your parents, they either tell you to go play - which, by the way, is totally useless advice - or they just sigh and ignore you. Sometimes they might even put a tally on a whiteboard for every time you’ve ever said, “I’m bored.” But saying you’re bored doesn’t cure the boredom, it only makes it worse. The only real cure for boredom is simple, really. It’s to have some fun.
Here is a list of fun activities you can do with your friends, your family, or on your own!
Fly a kite
Go fishing
Have a water balloon or water gun fight
Ride your bike
Catch fireflies
Build a fort (indoors or outdoors)
Make paper airplanes
Make homemade popsicles
Go swim in the beach
Host a race
Play catch (or frisbee?)
Play card games
Get a book of riddles, try solving them
Have a scavenger hunt
Read a new book
Hang out with your friends
Make a life-sized board game with chalk
Make yourself a pet rock
Have a picnic
Go camping in your backyard
Play limbo (or hose water limbo!)
Ask your parents if they could teach you a new sport, recipe, or game - it might be hard at first, but it’s worth it!
