Coyotes in Shorewood

Have you ever seen a coyote? One has been spotted at Lake Bluff time and time again during the pandemic. But the question is, is it a menace that needs to be dealt with or a great creature that needs to be protected?

First let me describe the coyote. When you see it, you may think it is a dog but as you get closer you will see that it is a skinner and has sharper teeth for hunting. Keep reading to find out what the kids I interviewed thought.

My personal opinion (Ian) is that I think the coyote is a great creature. I say that because it has run away from me so I think that unless it attacks someone we should leave it alone.

My personal opinion (William) is that we should leave the coyotes alone because they were here before us and they're just trying to live their lives. they are animals trying to live there without being disturbed. But don’t ask us, you can ask the people we surveyed.

As you can see a little over 70% of people thought that the coyote should not be restrained and I agree with them. But if you want proof that these people are trustworthy, it's because 20 of the 24 people that said "no" to restraining them have seen coyotes.

So we ask you, what are they: are they great creatures or evil beings that must be destroyed?

We think all nature should be protected and all things are important, from a small mouse to a great lion.
