There are pros and cons to virtual learning. Let’s start off with the pros. First, you can stay home and be with your family and you can sleep in later because you don’t have to walk to school! Next, if you do your homework quickly, you can be done for the rest of the day and have more free time. Also, because of virtual learning you get more time to work on your computer typing skills. Lastly you can wear your pajamas in class.
Here are some cons for virtual learning. If your parents are essential workers you could be home alone a lot and that can be lonely. You also don’t get to see your teacher and friends in person and that makes you feel more lonely. You have to look at a screen all day which is not good for your eyes. Another con is that instructional hours have decreased. That means that we have to learn the same amount with less instructional time with our teachers. Finally, you have to be individually motivated to keep track of your schedule which is really hard for some people.
After talking to my older siblings who are also doing virtual learning, I think that virtual learning is harder for younger students. Younger students are more inexperienced with technology and get more distracted by the things around them. Also, younger students have a harder time adjusting to the new format / working at home. The older students are more used to working independently. That is why I think virtual learning is harder for the younger kids. Dont worry everyone, this will all be over soon :)
