Have you ever heard of Among Us? It is a popular video game that has made it in with other very popular video games like Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite. It has become a huge trend on YouTube. It has a 4.4 out of 5 on the app store with over 100,000 ratings. In September 2020, the game exceeded 100 million downloads, and its player count rose to 1.5 million concurrent players, nearly 400 thousand of which were on Steam, then peaked to 3.8 million in late September.
Among Us is a game where 5-10 players board a spaceship. However, there are 1-3 imposters (players that sabotage the spaceship and try to eliminate everyone). On the spaceship there are tasks you have to do in order to keep the spaceship working properly. But the imposter is trying to sabotage the spaceship and kill everyone. There are different rooms around the ship like Admin, Cafeteria, Weapons, and Oxygen. Each with different tasks.
At the beginning of the game you are in a waiting room where you can customize and edit your character to make it look exactly how you want. You can change the color of your spacesuit, and you can even put a hat on, like a sunhat, all the way to something like a plague mask. Right before you start, you are shown a screen that says if you are the imposter. When you eliminate other people can report the dead body, then you get sent to a screen where you can send messages to other people about who you think is the imposter, like when you are in a group chat in Gmail. Or, if you are the imposter, you try to defend yourself if someone thinks you are suspicious, or “sus”. Then players vote on who they think the imposter is. If they are right, then the imposter gets ejected into space. If they are wrong, the game continues, but with one person ejected.
I would really recommend this game, so if you have not tried it, go check it out!
