Curriculum Delivery Statement
Rationale
God created humanity as physical as well as intellectual, social and spiritual beings. God has from the time of creation given clear instructions in regard to humanities physical well being. God created us to work and develop ourselves physically. Regular physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration but promotes strong and correct physical growth and development. In a modern sedentary world it is the aim of the school to encourage physical activity that strengthens and develops the body and promotes life long fitness.
Curriculum Content and Coverage
The curriculum delivered is based upon the New Zealand Curriculum.
Each strand will be covered each year. Teachers will teach the specified Achievement Objectives and Special Character focus from within the topics provided in the schema.
Programme Emphasis
Students will be encouraged to develop personal fitness and well being as the central focus of the Physical Education programme.
Students will be encouraged to develop their personal fitness through natural physical exertion consistent with the schools Special Character.
Kiwi Sport Modified Games and skills will be an integral part of the programme.
Active Southland may offer programmes though out the year which will change the teaching of the Annual Physical Education Cycle.
Teaching Methodology
Celebration (Kaizen Learning) of student’s fitness and sporting achievements should be a part of the classroom programme.
Fitness will be a daily activity for all tamariki and will be scheduled into the school programme.
Correct Physical Education gear needs to be worn as and when appropriate (P.E. session).
Students with disabilities and medical conditions will be catered for in accordance with their needs.
