Playground Supervision
A staff member is to be outside and actively on duty any time students are outside at break times. Teachers are to ensure there is a someone ON DUTY before they leave for their break. When on duty the staff member must be actively walking around the play areas and checking the health and safety of the students. The duty teacher must wear a fluro vest when on duty.
If a relief teacher comes into the school they are required to do the duty of the teacher they are relieving for.
Wet Days
The teacher on duty makes the call. If it is a wet day, the students are to be in their classes during break times - except for Room 5 who go to their house classes. If it starts to rain when the students are outside, 3 bells are to be rung and students must go inside. If, on a wet day, the rain stops and the duty teacher determines that the students can go outside, 2 bells are to be rung.
Before and After School Supervision
We appreciate parents' efforts in getting students to school at a good time in the morning. Arriving late is disruptive for the child, and for the class and teacher. Arriving between 8:30am and 8:50 am gives the student plenty of time to catch up with friends, hang up their school bag, hand in any notices, and be ready to start at 8:55am.
Students are permitted to enter the school grounds from 8:20am each morning however supervision will not begin until 8:30am. Prior to 8:30am students are not permitted to use playground equipment and must wait in a designated area until the duty teacher begins at 8:30am.
Teacher duty begins at 8:30am in the morning and finishing at 3:15pm Monday - Friday (except on Teacher Only Days or Half Days). Parents are responsible for their children before 8:30am and after 3:15pm.
