Procedure Statement
At Southland Adventist Christian School, we value a conducive learning environment and strive to maintain a focused and inclusive atmosphere for all students. To ensure the smooth operation of our school and uphold our commitment to equality and inclusivity, we have implemented a procedure regarding birthday celebrations.
Procedure Details
No Birthday Parties: We do not allow birthday parties to be held at school during regular school hours. This includes decorations, games, and other party-related activities.
Small Cake Permitted: We recognize the importance of celebrating birthdays, and to honour this tradition, students may bring in a small birthday cake to share with their classmates during lunchtime or a designated break. This cake should be modest in size and should not disrupt the regular school schedule or class time.
Allergies and Dietary Restrictions: Please consider the dietary restrictions and allergies of your child's classmates when selecting a cake. Ensure that the cake does not contain any ingredients that may pose a risk to others.
Distribution of Cake: The cake distribution will be coordinated with the school's staff, and the celebration should not last more than 10 minutes to minimize disruptions to the learning environment.
Rationale
This procedure is in place to:
Ensure that all students feel included and avoid potential feelings of exclusion due to disparities in birthday celebrations.
Maintain an environment focused on learning and minimize disruptions to the school day.
Address the concerns of students with allergies or dietary restrictions by limiting food-related celebrations.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this procedure, which helps create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students at Southland Adventist Christian School. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.
