Staff Appointment
Refer to the following guidelines BEFORE doing anything, including advertising:
“Staff Appointments – Handbook for Boards of Trustees of Seventh-Day-Adventist Integrated Schools
No appointment will be made of teaching staff without prior consultation with the Proprietors
All positions in Seventh-day Adventist Schools are tagged and therefore, The Southland Adventist Christian School Board of Trustees will seek to employ well-qualified and innovative teachers, with a consideration for Bible-based teaching including an emphasis on integrating faith and learning, with the Special Character as a significant dimension of the school
The Southland Adventist Christian School Board of Trustees is to make the final decision regarding full time Staff Appointments
The Appointments Committee is to present the appropriate applicants/interviewees to the BOT, with its recommendations
The decision of appointment is not to be made by the Principal or the Appointments Committee. No person is to be employed until being agreed upon by the BOT
All persons short listed after applying for any appointment at this school will be subject to a Police Vet as required by the government
The Principal, with the assistance of senior teaching staff, is responsible for the advertisement and employment of a teacher aide. The BoT reserves the right of approval
The Principal is responsible for the employment of relievers
The Principal and teaching staff is responsible for the recruitment of volunteer staff. All volunteers are expected to sign the Volunteer Agreement
The BoT reserves the right of refusal in all staff matters
Teacher Aide and Volunteer Staff
A police vet must be obtained
Staff are briefed and, if applicable, have a written job description
Staff must sign a confidentiality agreement
The contribution of staff is formally acknowledged
Unregistered staff are expected to work within close proximity of a school employee
Checks made to ensure all teacher registration qualifications are current as applicable
Staff are to take steps to avert any immediate danger to children and report the matter immediately to a school employee
