Planning expectations

All planning should be entered into iUgo.

You will need to create a Reading plan for each term. This plan could include both Shared Reading and Guided Reading or you could create a separate plan for both Shared Reading and Guided Reading. Your Guided Reading plan should contain information on Independent Reading. Reading To Students can be planned either separately (like a Chapter Chat unit plan) or as part of Shared or Guided Reading.

All plans need to have the 'Big Idea', 'Achievement Objectives' and 'Key Competencies/Values' filled in.

The 'Learning Support' section also needs to be completed to show information on how you will support your Priority Learners.

SHARED READING

Your Shared Reading plan should contain a week-by-week format. This should include:

Your Shared Reading plan should also contain the teaching that will happen each day, including:

The text
The focus
Key teaching points and activities

GUIDED READING

Your Guided Reading plan should contain a week-by-week format. This should include:

Each guided reading group
Each guided reading group's learning intentions/outcomes

Your Guided Reading plan should also contain the teaching that will happen each day, including:

The text
The purpose/focus for reading
Key teaching points/questions around 'Introducing the Text'.
Key teaching points/questions around 'Reading and Discussing the Text.'
Key teaching/points/questions/activities around 'Responding to the Text' (this can include Follow Up activities).
