Checklist for the physical environment
- Is there an identifiable area for small-group, focused instruction?
- Is there an area suitable for a large group?
- Are there small-group work areas for independent activities?
- Are there areas where individuals can work quietly?
- Is there a class library?
- Is technology conveniently set out, and are there clear understandings about its use?
- Are storage areas for resources and equipment accessible and well organised?
- Are the resources clearly labelled?
- Are display spaces available for the students?
- Are there places identified for collecting students' completed work?
- Are there messages about literacy in many forms/media on the walls?
