Evaluation

You should now complete a personal Evaluation and Reflection of your finished Lamp. 

To complete your Evaluation you must be honest with all your comments – good and bad! Your evaluation should be structured using the following framework. 

The first section 

should describe / explain not only what you learned but also how you learnt it e.g. how the Lamp is assembled, Components, type of wood used and why - how did you find out this information etc.? Return back to the Design Brief / Rationale. How well have you solved the problem? Does it satisfy the Design Brief / User Group? How? Return back to the Restrictions / Specification. Does your finished work satisfy the Specification? How? Why? You should comment / make final judgements about your finished work. What do you think is good / bad about your finished work? How have you progressed your understanding during the project i.e. what new skills have you learnt, what can you do now etc.?

The second section 

should include advice to someone else on how to do what you did (Top Tips). Use your experiences to focus this advice. You might want to focus on mistakes you made or successes you had e.g. what problems did you have and how did you overcome them? How did you use cut out the middle part of the hardwood? Did you have any problems with this etc.?

For the final section 

you should offer advice for someone else on how to carry out the project (WWW / EBI). Offer straightforward guidance which was / would have been of use to you when you were learning (if you were to make your work again, what changes you would make and why? Look at your Diary of Manufacture). Could you have made the project in a different order? Should you have chosen an easier design for the ‘shape’ of your Lamp? Could you have done something different for the Lamp Shade on top of the shape? What is the best finish to use for each material etc.?

Write your personal evaluation and include photos of your lamp alongside to help you explain important details. You may want to use an app like Procreate to help you. 

Insert lots of high quality photos of your finished lamp to show off your exellent work on your website.
