Mini Inspiration Board. Collect abstract shapes to help with your shape design. Colour does NOT matter as you will only work with wood.
Your Initial design ideas are your first ideas about how you will solve the design brief. You should sketch out your initial ideas quickly and clearly to communicate your ideas so you can show them to other people and discuss the idea in greater detail.
Your Initial Ideas should be presented using a variety of sketching and rendering techniques.
Your teacher will show you some techniques in class.
A lightly sketched centre line can help as a guide and is always strongly recommended.
This helps will the symmetry of the design.
Use very light guidelines to help you draw simple shapes (we call this technique crating).
Remember, you should keep all of the lines light until you are sure that you have drawn the correct shape, and then go over the outlines to make the shape stand out.
Render in brown to make the shapes look like wood. You could try adding a wood grain.
You different shades of brown.
Wood grain effects make the wood designs looks more realistic.
Colour surround effects with bright colours used as the background help highlight the overall shape.
Notes and annotation help share design ideas and thoughts.
Dark and light shadows create tone and contrast when rendering for better results.
Your design page should be full and empty gaps filled with comments.
