CAD - Computer Aided Design

Computer aided design is the process of using a computer to help you design a digital model.

You are going to use CAD CAM to help you manufacture your flower pot. Computer Aided Design (CAD) exists to help you communicate your design idea and enables you to manufacture it using a process known as (CAM) - Computer aided Manufacture. You will be using a 3D modeling package to draw your design in the computer.

Once you have modeled your design in 3D, you will be ready to commence manufacture. You should include photo’s of your 3D modeling progress in your digital portfolio.

Getting started:

Creating an onshape account

The first stage of starting your 3D CAD is creating an Onshape account so you can use the Onshape design program. Follow the video carefully to set up your education subscription account and to learn how to log in to Onshape.

Make a copy of the Flowerpot file

The first step towards modelling your flower pot in Onshape is to copy the basic flower pot model and sharing your file with your teacher. This video will guide you through the process.

1.Draw a sketch of the veneer shapes
