At the end of the book there are people, like Stanley’s mother, who are sure that there was never a curse, but others still believe there was one. Camp Green Lake was closed, forcing Ms. Walker to sell the land, and in a few years time it will become a Girl Scout camp. Stanley’s father managed to open the suitcase and found it contained both jewels and papers. The jewels were of little value, but the papers left Stanley and Zero with just under one million dollars each. The story fasts forward a year and a half , where the Yelnats are hosting a party. They are sitting around the television and the Super Bowl is playing, but no one is paying attention, they seem to be waiting for something to come on during the break. An advert starts to play for something called ‘Sploosh’, which Stanley’s dad invented. As everyone is talking about the advert, Zero’s grandmother is fluffing his hair, while humming a song, one that her grandmother used to sing to her.
