Out of the six provided alphabetically labelled tents, Stanely was assigned tent D, where he met his counselor Mr Pendanski. Stanley's counselor explained the camp and the one main rule: "Don't upset the Warden". Mr Pendanski went on to encourage Stanley so that he feels a sense of comfort. He was then introduced to two of his tent mates, nicknamed Squid and X-ray. Alan or rather Squid came back with four other people. They were also nicknamed and were introduced as Magnet, Armpit and ZigZag. The last boy standing was labelled Zero for having 'nothing in his head'. Stanley was then informed about their former tent mate 'Barf bag', whose cot he would be sleeping in. Their counsellor Mr Pendanski was seen as a mother figure to them, since this was their second home. The group of boys nicknamed him ‘Mom’. He expected the boys to be kind and welcoming towards Stanley.
