Stanley finished digging his hole and when he arrived at the compound, he found Mr Pendanski and the others sitting in a circle. He agreed with X-ray that the second hole was the hardest, but X-ray told him that the third hole was worse. They were discussing what they wanted to do with their lives after leaving Camp Green Lake. Magnet said that he liked animals and Mr Pendanski and the others recommended some animal-related jobs to him. Stanley wanted to be part of the F.B.I. but he knew it wasn’t the right place to mention it. Mr Pendanski explained that he was here on his own account, but Stanley blamed it on his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great grandfather. The boys howled with laughter and Stanley saw Zero smile for the first time. '' No, that person is you, Stanley.'' said Mr Pendanski. He then asked Zero what he liked to do and he replied that he liked digging holes.
