Chapter 47

They were still in the hole with the lizards. The Warden tried to convince Mr. Sir to get the suitcase but he didn't budge. He didn't want to get it. As they argued, Zero mumbled a word that sounded similar to Stanley's name. A while later, a tarantula crawled across the desert. The lizard pounced on it and ate it. Stanley tried to climb out of the hole but he felt the lizards cling onto him, so he backed into the hole again. Zero realised that Stanley's last name is his first name spelt backwards. Two people walked towards the hole. The Warden lied that Stanley stole the suitcase from her cabin. Stanley tried to defend himself but the lady said that he shouldn't say anything because she is his attorney. She told the Warden that Stanley has to stay alive. She then explained that she had come yesterday but the Warden didn't release him. The other person, who was a tall man, asked why, and the Warden explained (by telling a lie) that Stanley was hospitalised and he was in 'no condition to leave.' She said that he had been hallucinating and speaking to himself. Stanley managed to climb out of the hole and he pulled Zero out.
