Stanley couldn't help but wonder if there were more wild onions growing in Big Thumb.

On a Spring morning, Sam was calling out for people to buy some onions. Mrs Gladys Tennyson came running down the street in her nightgown. Gladys Tennyson thanked Sam for saving her daughter's life because of his onion tonic. Her daughter, Becca, seemed to eat some bad meat which gave her a stomach sickness which almost killed her. Before returning home, Gladys bought a dozen onions and fed some extras to Mary Lou.

Stanley tried to make the water hole deeper, but he really needed his shovel. He didn't want Zero to wake up and think that he abandoned him, so Stanley waited for Zero to wake up and then he went down the mountain on the trail he made earlier. Stanley still didn't see the shovel after heading a long way down. He got the shovel and headed back up. It was a hard climb and he had to rest many times.
