Dear Eagle Families,
Our days are always filled with intentional efforts to build a strong foundation for our Portrait of a Graduate and even in our four-day week, there are so many examples we can celebrate! Your child may have come home and shared that they completed an Acadience benchmark assessment, or that they simply read with someone to share their current early literacy skills. Students in grades 2 - 5 are also busy taking a new measure to us that will help inform standard mastery and academic readiness, iReady, for both language arts and math. These measures are replacing the MAP measure we have used in recent years. Students in grades K, 1, 3 and 5 may have had their hearing and vision screened on Thursday thanks to a partnership with a local nursing college. All parents will receive insight into your child's performance on these measures in the weeks to come so be sure to check in your child's yellow folders for parent reports and insight soon! Students in fourth and fifth grade should have received (or will by the end of this coming week) your child's state test results from the spring of 2022.
Thank you for your partnership for our professional development days. We hope everyone enjoyed their extended holiday weekend on Friday while our staff was hard at work continuing to grow professionally so that we can continue to ensure we are being collaborative in our approach to ensure your child learns, leads, and succeeds each day. Our teachers spent time analyzing the data noted above to build plans that align with what your child knows and are ready to learn. We look forward to continuing those collaborative efforts in our partnership with you this school year too!
We hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend and truly finds time to unplug and enjoy family and friends!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
P.S. Please see below for another partnership we encourage you to take advantage of with the HealthSource of Ohio Mobile Dentist coming to Summerside in September! This is an outstanding opportunity to have your child's teeth cleaned and evaluated during the school day and then any additional work that might need to be followed up on can happen at our Wolves Wellness Center.
Channel 12 News visited Summerside on Tuesday, August 30th to interview and celebrate our kindergarten teacher,
Ms. Patty Emery!
You can watch the full segment above and here is the article on Channel 12 News site too!

Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. One way that we can do that is to help provide for your child if there is a need for food at home over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations who wish to serve our Summerside students, we are able to continue our Weekend Food Bag Program as an option for our students in need for the 2022 - 23 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, receiving a food bag at the end of each week, please complete the linked form below. Requests will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, prioritized by our free and reduced school fee recipients. There is the potential for a waiting list while we pursue additional resources to expand this program if we find that our students’ needs are greater than the current levels of support available. We are also fortunate to have local organizations offering Giving Tree and Holiday Food support for the holidays. Please indicate on the following form if you are interested in being contacted by the agencies who provide them about those programs as well.
