Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
At Summerside, we create excellence in every learner by using a calm, consistent, and caring approach in a safe and welcoming environment every day, in every way. To support these efforts, our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team added new ways to notice, recognize, and celebrate our Eagle Expectations, taking care of ourselves, others, and Summerside, including the addition of a SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYE! Classrooms earn Golden Eagle Eyes when their teacher, other adults in the building, and even the students recognize ways that they are upholding our Eagle Expectations as a classroom community. When a homeroom earns ten Golden Eagle Eyes together, they can turn it in for a SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYE! When we have 30 SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYES as a building, we celebrate together, as one community. We are excited to share that we will be celebrating with an extra recess on Monday that is paired with another grade level to continue to connect and grow together. You can share this news with your student to help celebrate with them at home and be sure to ask them, how has their class earned Golden Eagle Eyes to help lead to this success overall!
Fall has definitely arrived and it is GORGEOUS at Summerside, a perfect time of year for an EXTRA RECESS! The fall leaves are stunning and the crisp air is so refreshing. As you break out those hoodies, jackets, and even coats, please be sure to put your child's name on their belongings so we can easily return them if it gets left behind and lands in our lost and found. If your child needs a winter coat, hat, and gloves, please connect directly with their homeroom teacher and/or Mrs. Lisa Sheffey, sheffey_l@my.westcler.org, to share their size and preferred color. Mrs. Sheffey is partnering with a local church to provide new coats to students who need them.
Third graders take their Ohio State ELA Tests on Tuesday, 10/25, and Wednesday, 10/26 this week. Please be sure to have your third grader arrive at school, on time, well rested, ready to show what they know, and minimize appointments during these two days. We have picture retakes on Wednesday and our Boo Fest on Friday!!! It's going to be another great week at Summerside, filled with learning, leading, and succeeding!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
Grade-level newsletters will be updated every two weeks.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.
*We learned some our links were not updating and have worked to get them all fixed.
Look for all newsletters to be updated in the next week or so!
Camp Dates: Wednesday, November 3 - Friday, November 5
We encourage all fifth graders to attend.
The cost is only $65 per student thanks to the PTO Kroger Plus card initiative - please click into that opportunity to continue to keep the cost of camp reasonable for years to come! Our PTO will support with scholarships as needed as we do not want cost to be a deterrent for any family.
School Families
School Families met on Monday, October 17th for the second time this school year. During School Family time, each teacher has a group of multi-aged students K-5 from across the building. We started our School Families last year as a way for students in all grade levels to continue to support one another and form yet another group and adult who they can turn to learn, lead, and succeed together.
Citizens Advisory Commission Student Survey
October is School Safety Month in Ohio, and West Clermont will be administering a brief anonymous and optional school safety survey to 5th thru 12th graders in our district the week of October 24th. If you would like to review the survey questions, email info@westcler.org. If you would like to opt your student out of the survey, complete this form.
We hope you can encourage your child to participate in this survey. Their voices matter.
