Dear Summerside Families,
We hope all enjoyed their spring break with time to slow down and get refreshed, preparing ourselves for the work ahead as we jumped right back into a full school press on Monday and throughout this week. Spring brings a renewed sense of energy and urgency as we work hard to finish strong together. We set goals for ourselves and our students and we have two months left to continue to rise to meet them together.
State testing season is part of that urgency as our students in grades 3 -5 have the opportunity to show off all they have learned through the years in language arts and math. Please see the schedule below to support having your child at school, on time, and ready to do their best each morning for the next three weeks. As we kick into May, we will be doing our third and final round of benchmark assessments for all students, K - 5, so we can see their growth throughout the year which will continue to help guide our instructional model for every student. Reports of all of these assessment results will be shared with families as soon as possible - look for more information in future Eagle Updates.
Spring also means FIELD TRIPS!! Students in all grades will be taking a field trip in the next month. Please ensure your child's emergency medical forms are completed and up to date in Powerschool. If you have not set up your westclermont.powerschool.com/public account please do so as soon as possible so that we have the required forms. If you have not set up your West Clermont PowerSchool Parent Portal account and need the Access ID and Access Password, click the link and complete the form: PowerSchool Parent Portal Support. Please give us 48 business hours to return your message.
We have six powerful, exciting weeks ahead to continue to do great things together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
P.S. We also have our upcoming PTO book fair, PTO Skating Party, PTO Grandparent's Brunch, and the WC Foundation Fun Run coming up this week. See below for so much to enjoy together!
Grade-level newsletters will be updated every two weeks.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.

PBIS
Summerside currently has two Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Teams that meet monthly. Our goal is to ensure all students have access and support to our building-wide plan and to provide extra assistance to those students who struggle behaviorally.
Our Summerside Building Wide PBIS expectations are:
Take Care of Yourself
Take Care of Others
Take Care of Summerside
When teachers and/or other staff notice any particular student struggling with expectations on a consistent basis, that student may be referred to our PBIS Tier 2 Team. The team reviews data to determine if more support is needed.
We would like to make sure parents also have an avenue for referral to the PBIS Tier 2 Team. If you feel your child needs additional behavioral support at school please contact your child’s teacher. Your child’s teacher will be able to provide some insight and a referral may be sent to our Tier 2 Team. A member of the PBIS Tier 2 team will be in contact if the referral is found to warrant adding your child to our Tier 2 intervention.

Sign up today, and we’ll contact you with more information about dates, times, and topics.
Recently, West Clermont released the Talking to Your Kids About School Safety and Wellbeing Discussion Guide as part of Volume 2 of the WC Roadmap Report. We recognize that school safety may be a tough topic to discuss at home so we developed the guide to help with the conversation with the support of the West Clermont Citizens Advisory Commission (CAC). The easy to use resource has two parts that consist of a Discussion Guide and an in depth survey. We urge you to take some time to have these important conversations with your kids.
NOTE: The starting time for the Town Hall at Amelia has changed. Refreshments will be available at 5 PM and the Town Hall will begin at 5:30 PM.
