Dear Summerside Families,
Thank you to all who attended a parent-teacher conference this past Thursday evening as we know that our partnership in your child's education is imperative for their overall success, every day, in every way! If you were not able to attend, we continue to encourage you to connect with your child's teacher with any questions or concerns and to gain insight to what you can be doing at home to ensure they finish this school year strong!
We are fortunate to have our Discover team at Summerside every Tuesday - Friday where our students can tap into their creative and innovative skills in different ways during their 45- minute Discover cultural arts program. Your child has probably come home excited to share what they are creating in art, playing in their physical education class, singing in music, and building in the discovery class. These four "Discover Classes" are opportunities for our students to broaden their understanding of their world, share their talents and passions in new ways, and expand their potential in all areas as we continue to prepare our students for the lives they desire, building a strong foundation for our West Clermont Portrait of a Graduate. One example of this is illustrated in this quick video our art teacher, Mrs. Rachel Cline, shared with our students and staff recently about how drawing can impact academic success. Please see below for more information from our Discover team in their quarterly newsletter!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
KIDS HEART CHALLENGE
Throughout last week, your student may have come home and shared about this opportunity Mr. Moore is leading. It's an exciting way to learn about brain & heart health!

The West Clermont High School Band performed for 5th graders last Thursday, March 9th. Along with the band, the chorus and drama teachers were there to take questions on elective offerings for our future middle schoolers.
A reminder to all who are picking a child up in our car line, please have your car tags present and easily seen in your front window for our teachers to quickly pair you with your child. IF your child's car tag has fallen off their bookbag, please have them report to the office to request a new one. IF you have lost the two parent tags that we have printed for you, please request new ones by emailing our office assistant, Ms. Tara Chapin, Chapin_t@my.westcler.org. Please note, that without the car tag in the window, we will need to see the adult's identification to ensure we are releasing to the appropriate adults. Finally, we ask that all parents remain in their car as our students walk down the pathway as it is difficult for our adults to navigate and ensure all children are getting in the correct car.

In-person focus groups will be held during the day and early evening at West Clermont High School. Virtual focus groups will be held in the evening and allow you to participate from home using Zoom. All sessions will be seeking your insights on creating FUTURE-READY STUDENTS. This is an opportunity for you to join a group of other community members that care deeply about the future of West Clermont. Sign up today, and we’ll contact you with more information about dates, times, and topics.
Recently, West Clermont released the Talking to Your Kids About School Safety and Wellbeing Discussion Guide as part of Volume 2 of the WC Roadmap Report. We recognize that school safety may be a tough topic to discuss at home so we developed the guide to help with the conversation with the support of the West Clermont Citizens Advisory Commission (CAC). The easy to use resource has two parts that consist of a Discussion Guide and an in depth survey. We urge you to take some time to have these important conversations with your kids.
We are listening to our students, families and community members and creating a path forward together to ensure all students are future-ready with a competitive advantage. Please attend one of our upcoming Town Hall Meetings.
We have made all feedback or suggestions from our community from our town halls—as well as the YouTube Live recordings of all of our public town hall events—available to the public on a special section of our WolfPack Hub, which can be accessed by clicking here or visiting westcler.org/hub and then clicking on the "Town Halls" button.
Our next public Town Halls are scheduled for:
