Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
Thank you to all who were able to attend a parent-teacher conference in the past two weeks. Your partnership in your child's education is so key to their success in building the future they want for themselves. Hopefully, you walked away with ideas of how to help them be even more successful, with action steps and specific goals in mind.
Our third graders will be taking the fall Ohio State Test for English Language Arts (ELA) the week of October 24. There will be two days of testing for each part of the test with our students working hard to slow down, read each part, and answer each question with attention to detail. All third, fourth, and fifth graders will take the state tests in ELA, and Math, and Science in fifth grade, in the spring to continue to measure their progress and growth in both subjects through the years. Here are resources from the Ohio Department of Education that provide insight into the content of these tests and give the opportunity for additional practice at home. The results of the third-grade fall test will be shared with parents as soon as they arrive.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
P.S. A reminder, we do not have school this coming Friday, October 21, while teachers are engaged in additional professional development to continue to hone in on our commitment to excellence for every learner, every day, in every way!
Students in Ms. Acomb's fourth grade ELA classes set reading goals for themselves based on their present levels of progress and where they want to see themselves grow this school year!
Grade-level newsletters will be updated every two weeks.
Our Discover team newsletter will be updated quarterly.
Camp Dates: Wednesday, November 3 - Friday, November 5
We encourage all fifth graders to attend.
The cost is only $65 per student thanks to the PTO Kroger Plus card initiative - please click into that opportunity to continue to keep the cost of camp reasonable for years to come! Our PTO will support with scholarships as needed as we do not want cost to be a deterrent for any family.
Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found collection is building! If your child is missing a belonging, please encourage him or her to look on the cafeteria stage.

October is School Safety Month in Ohio, and West Clermont will be administering a brief anonymous and optional school safety survey to 5th thru 12th graders in our district the week of October 24th. The goal of this survey is to capture student perspectives on school safety. The results of this survey will be shared with the Board of Education as part of a Citizens Advisory Commission report on school safety at West Clermont. If you would like to review the survey questions, email info@westcler.org. If you would like to opt your student out of the survey, complete this form.
We hope you can encourage your child to participate in this survey. Their voices matter.
