Along with accessing your child's report card online, the following reports should have come home with your child this past week with key parent reports to share their end-of-year assessment data. We utilize your child's progress to help guide our instructional approach, including creating balanced class lists, and knowing how to support their continued growth as individuals. The following reports give insight into your child's present level of performance so you can continue to support their progress over the summer and throughout their educational career:
Kindergarten - Fifth Grade: Acadiance Parent Report of literacy progress
Second - Fifth Grade: iReady Parent Reports of language arts and math progress
Third - Fifth Grade: Ohio State Test Reports of language arts and math performance
For any children in grades K - 4 who received reading intervention during Summerside's daily 30 minute skill groups as part of the requirements of Ohio's Third Grade Reading Guarantee, we will be re-sharing their intervention documentation with parents via our SameGoal program within the next week with end of year updates for your records. For any third grader with these RIMPs, we have noted whether and how they have met the state's promotion requirements.
Summerside Writes! Calling All Future Authors
Dear Summerside Families,
We are so excited to begin this Summer’s adventure with our eagles. This summer, we are focusing on writing our own stories, sharing our voices as authors of our own stories. On field day, your child was given a special bookmark and small notebook and introduced to the idea of writing a book of their own. This can be a book of short stories about their summer adventures or a fictional story of a character they create. They may even write poetry or simply whatever comes to mind.
Twice this summer, we will be gathering together at the Union Township Public Library to share what we have put into our journals and to celebrate a newfound love of writing. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 21st from 11:00-2:00 and Wednesday, July 19th from 11:00-2:00. We will gather and have a light snack and anyone who is willing will be able to share what they have written with other Summerside Eagles as part of an author's circle.
Feel free to post pics on Twitter or Facebook (the Summerside pages please) and let us see your young authors at work. We love seeing all the wonderful ways our Eagles continue to read, write, learn, and grow over the summer.
See you soon!

#STRONGERTogether
Our new board for the 2023 - 2024 school year:
Co-Presidents:- Liana Schaeffer and Dana Montgomery
Co-Vice-Presidents: Sadie Williams and Betsy Brown
Secretary: Nicole Vicario
Co-Treasures: Ashley Supe and Stevie Leinberger
Our Core Values: Together We are, ON THE RISE. R-Relationship, I-Innovation, S-Student Centered, E-Empowerment
We are creating a courageous culture by focusing on our mission of committing to excellence with every learner, every day, every way. We strive to have a safe, caring, positive learning environment where all students have a sense of belonging.
As you may know, the Citizens Advisory Commission (CAC) is a volunteer team of district parents, community members and educators who are appointed by the Board and are responsible for conducting research on priorities the Board of Education has identified and then reporting those findings and making suggestions or recommendations to the Board. In August 2022, the Board tasked the CAC with researching Student & Staff Safety & Security in West Clermont with the following mandate:
"West Clermont desires to have a clear understanding from all stakeholders of what a safe and collaborative learning environment looks like, what mindsets, skill sets and tools sets are required to achieve it, and what processes will be used for evaluation and continuous improvement efforts."
For the next 6 months, the CAC met with numerous subject matter experts and outside agencies, administered a School Safety Survey for all 5th-12th graders in the district, and—under the direction of Shawn Riley, Hamilton County Educational Service Center Safety Administrator—conducted a comprehensive safety assessment of all school buildings. Once the CAC had completed their task, they presented their findings and issued their report at the March 2nd Board meeting.
While the results of the comprehensive safety assessment that was conducted by Mr. Riley indicated that West Clermont school buildings met and/or exceeded industry standards, one recommendation to further improve the safety and security of a number of school buildings was to install planter barriers as another safety enhancement to school entrances. Thanks to a safety grant that the district received, these barriers were recently installed at a number of schools in the district. Check out this photo of the planters in front of WCMS.
