Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
We kicked off the week with a celebration of hard work and a true sense of community for our school earning 30 SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYES and wrapped it up with an outstanding opportunity to come together as an entire school family at our Boo Fest Boogie! It is so great to get to see our students in their costumes, with our families, simply having fun together!
In between, there was a lot of learning, leading, and succeeding by all. You can ask your 5th grader about their symbiosis projects in science class. In third-grade math, they are working on finding the area of a rectangle using square tiles and arrays and did an OUTSTANDING job showing what they know on the fall Ohio State ELA Test. You can ask your first grader about the books they are reading and how they are making connections to text in their writing.
Retake of Picture Retake Day: Lifetouch will be back at Summerside on Friday, November 4th.
We had picture retake day at Summerside this past week but we learned there were about 10 students who did not get their picture taken due to a miscommunication. If your child was on that list, we have been communicating with you directly via email about our next steps to fix this error. If you have not received an email but your child still needs their picture taken, please reach out to Karen Fields, fields_karen@my.westcler.org, so we can be sure to capture their smiles.
We kick off our PTO Turkey Trot fundraiser this coming Monday, October 31st with a whole school assembly. Please look for an envelope to come home with your child with information and ways to support this exciting, community- building event. A reminder, students are not to wear costumes to school on Monday but we are encouraging everyone to break out their orange and black (or orange and brown for us Browns fans:) on Monday to celebrate our Ohio teams! Happy Halloween and here's to another great week ahead together!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe

Look for all newsletters to be updated in the next week or so!
Our whole school celebration of earning 30 SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYES was a fun surprise for our students on Monday!
Students and staff continue to take great care of themselves, others, and Summerside every day, in every way!
Camp Dates: Wednesday, November 3 - Friday, November 5
We encourage all fifth graders to attend.
The cost is only $65 per student thanks to the PTO Kroger Plus card initiative - please click into that opportunity to continue to keep the cost of camp reasonable for years to come! Our PTO will support with scholarships as needed as we do not want cost to be a deterrent for any family.
Please remember to bring your ID if picking your child up early or if you do not have a car tag at regular dismissal time. We will keep your child safe by checking to make sure only approved adults pick up your child. Thank you for your cooperation!
