Dear Summerside Families, 

We had another OUTSTANDING week at Summerside filled with learning, celebration, and continuing to build a strong sense of Eagle/Wolf Pack pride! Thursday was a particularly great day to be an Eagle as our students collectively earned 30 SUPER GOLDEN EAGLE EYES as part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiatives and to celebrate together, ALL students played outside for an extra recess that day.  You can read more about these initiatives in previous Eagel Updates by using the search tool at the top of this page and here is the newsletter posted on 9/17/22 for easy access. 

We also hosted our first West Clermont School District Town Hall on Thursday evening at Summerside and it was a packed house! We had more than 100 in attendance that evening, filling our cafeteria with staff, parents, and community members, including two elected officials Clermont County Commissioner, Ms. Claire Corcoron, and a Board of Trustee for Union Township, Mr. Michael Logue. Thank you to all of the students, parents, grandparents, PTO members, and community members for joining us that evening as YOUR voice is needed at the table to understand where we are and continue to work together in writing our next chapter to ensure we continue to be a district on the RISE!  We encourage all to attend our remaining Town Hall for this school year on April 27, 2023 - 5:30 PM at Amelia Elementary (5 East Main Street). Seating is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot here as we guarantee, you will walk away with a lot to think and talk about! 

Speaking of coming together, we also encourage all to join us for our upcoming WC Education Foundation FUN RUN!! This family-friendly event is truly a lot of fun for all and is a great way to kick off a spring weekend together on Saturday, April 22. If you wish to attend but the cost is a barrier, please reach out to either of us to request scholarship support as we want to encourage all to come out and cheer on our students as they hit the track. The school with the most participation, by percentage, will receive the championship trophy to proudly display at their school! Let's bring it to Summerside!

Cell Phones and Smartwatches

We are noticing many Summerside students are bringing cell phones and/or Smartwatches to school and using these devices during school hours.   Please be aware that using a Smartwatch or cell phone during school hours is prohibited, per West Clermont School Board Policy.  The usage of devices during school hours is distracting to all learners; please remind your child to reach out to their teacher if they need assistance or need to communicate with you during the school day.

26. Wireless Communication Device - Failure to follow policy. Students may possess and use wireless

communication devices (WCDs) on school property, school provided transportation, or at

school-sponsored activities only during approved times and for approved purposes.

West Clermont School Board Policy-

5136 - PERSONAL COMMUNICATION DEVICES

For purposes of this policy, "personal communication device" (PCD) includes computers, tablets (e.g., iPad-like devices), electronic readers ("e-readers"; e.g., Kindle-like devices), cell phones, smartphones (e.g., iPhones, Android devices, Windows Mobile devices, etc.), and/or other web-enabled devices of any type.

Students may use Personal Communication Devices (PCDs before and after school, during their lunch break, in between classes as long as they do not create a distraction, disruption or otherwise interfere with the educational environment, during after school activities (e.g., extra-curricular activities), or at school-related functions. Use of PCDs, except those approved by a teacher or administrator, at any other time is prohibited and they must be powered completely off (i.e., not just placed into vibrate or silent mode) and stored out of sight.

Representatives from our Fifth Grade Student Ambassadors and Morning Announcement Crew kicked off our Town Hall meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and some shared their ambitions for their future and how their years in elementary school have provided the foundation to learn, lead, and succeed.  

We are beyond proud of each of them as they truly captured our intentions as educators and have such bright, beautiful futures ahead as they continue to work toward our Portrait of a Graduate! 

School Fees and Lunch Money

If you are experiencing problems with Autopay on the PaySchools App, you will need to contact the Support line through PaySchools at 1-877-393-6628.   Child Nutrition does not have access to PaySchools in order to answer your questions.  PaySchools is aware that there have been issues in regards to payments posting and balance discrepancies on student lunch accounts.   For updated balances, Child Nutrition suggests registering for a free Titan Account.   The link to do so is family.titank12.com.

West Clermont Safety Update

West Clermont High School is hosting a First Responder Interagency Incident Response Training in partnership with Union Township Police and Fire Departments on March 31, the first day of spring break. This training ensures our local emergency responders are prepared to respond to any emergency situation that may occur on campus or within the district.

This practice exercise includes procedures for responding to scenarios such as an intruder on campus. We take the safety and security of our school community seriously and are grateful to our first responders for the practice and preparedness.

Your Voice Matters More Than Ever!

West Clermont is hosting a series of 25 IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL Focus Groups in March and April. Each focus group will include 8 -10 participants and lasts about an hour. We’re eager to have people from these community groups involved:

• Parents and Caregivers

• Teachers and Staff

• Alumni

• Local Businesses and Service Organizations

• Local Faith-based organizations

• Residents and community members

In-person focus groups will be held during the day and early evening at West Clermont High School. Virtual focus groups will be held in the evening and allow you to participate from home using Zoom. All sessions will be seeking your insights on creating FUTURE-READY STUDENTS. This is an opportunity for you to join a group of other community members that care deeply about the future of West Clermont.
