Dear Summerside Eagle Families,
CONGRATULATIONS, Summerside Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team! See below for information about an earned Ohio state award that our team applied for in the spring to recognize and honor all of the hard work we are intentional about in how we work to foster a calm, consistent, and caring approach in a safe and welcoming environment every day, in every way at Summerside!
SMILES coming to Summerside! It is not too late to sign up to have your child's teeth cleaned at Summerside next week. See the flyer below, complete the forms by Monday, and we will get them on the schedule to have their teeth cleaned and evaluated during the school day by the Health Source of Ohio Mobile Dentist team. We are so fortunate to have this support in our system and quite a few families are already signed up to shine!
We had an excellent turn-out at our kindergarten meet the teacher night and quite a few people joined us for our PTO meeting too! Our time together always leads to greater connections and opportunities to strengthen our village and commitment to excellence for every child! During our meeting, a parent shared that an update on our visitor and volunteer protocols might help all know how we can continue to come together and understand what to expect if you ever need to come to the school during school hours. Thank you for this feedback and guidance as we always welcome and appreciate all perspectives to help us continue to RISE together!
As noted in our student/parent handbook linked above, visitors and volunteers are able to enter the school through our main entrances and register at the office in accordance with the district protocols. These are scheduled visits/volunteer opportunities with your child's teacher or another staff member prior to your arrival. If you ever need to talk with your child or a staff member during the school day or come to the building during school hours, we will start by welcoming you through our intercom system so that we can understand how to help make the necessary and appropriate accommodations while continuing to maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff within the building. This might mean the adult(s) will need to remain outside or in our front door vestibule versus in our main office, depending on the need and circumstances. You are also able to sign your child out to eat lunch with them at our 2021 - 22 PTO purchased, Turkey-Trot and Brantner PTO (the red one represents the Cardinals:) funded tables!! There are three new beautiful tables out front that are perfect for an afternoon lunch with your child if you decide you would like to periodically spend time with them during their school day. Lunch times and insight are noted in the above-linked Activity Calendar button.
Here is additional information about becoming a volunteer in any of our West Clermont schools and we certainly welcome your partnership and involvement in your child's education!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Ms. Lowe
Our Summerside PBIS Tier 1 Team has been designated by the State Support Team Region 13 as a recipient of the Ohio PBIS BRONZE Award for 2021-2022! This achievement will be showcased during the annual Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Ohio conference in December. This accomplishment is a result of ALL that we do at Summerside to support our students! Congratulations, Summerside, and job well done!
Our 2021-2022 PBIS Tier 1 Team

Important to note, we have been granted permission to include pictures of the students who are pictured in our weekly updates and newsletters. If you would like your child removed from any picture at any time, please don't hesitate to email our office assistant, Mrs. Tara Chapin, Chapin_t@my.westcler.org to request a change in your media permission preferences marked during registration.
LAST CALL FOR SPARKLY SMILES!
Complete the forms linked below by Monday and we can still reserve a spot next week for your child to have their teeth cleaned and evaluated!
Please note, our scheduled picture day has changed to Thursday, September 22! Kindergarten Meet the Teacher Night, Tuesday, September 6
Thank you to all of our kindergarten families who were able to join us for an evening of information and building our classroom community!
Let's put on our Eagle spirit wear and show our support for our West Clermont Wolves! Join us for a parade to celebrate our West Clermont Wolves! You can either line the parade route to cheer everyone on OR join us in the parade to walk and wave! If you care to walk to represent Summerside, simply wear your Eagle spirit wear and plan to meet us at the rally point (TBD) by around 4:15 with the 2-mile parade starting at 5:00 pm.
We will have a parade line up on the lot of the old Fast Track auction site at 4000 McMann Road.
All parade participants will have to be at 4000 McMann Road by 4:40PM - please make sure we meet at this location, not the high school!
At 5:00 pm the parade will start and turn right on McMann to Clough Pike, right onto Clough Pike, and left into the parking lot then around the WCHS building to the stadium entrance.
At the conclusion of the parade we will have the alumni tent setup in the area outside the fence on the scoreboard end.
We will have inflatables for the kids at the end of the parade!
Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. One way that we can do that is to help provide for your child if there is a need for food at home over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations who wish to serve our Summerside students, we are able to continue our Weekend Food Bag Program as an option for our students in need for the 2022 - 23 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in this program, receiving a food bag at the end of each week, please complete the linked form below. Requests will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, prioritized by our free and reduced school fee recipients. There is the potential for a waiting list while we pursue additional resources to expand this program if we find that our students’ needs are greater than the current levels of support available. We are also fortunate to have local organizations offering Giving Tree and Holiday Food support for the holidays. Please indicate on the following form if you are interested in being contacted by the agencies who provide them about those programs as well.
