Zephaniah & Haggai
10:00-10:15 - Get to know new kids, entertain early arrivals until lesson begins
Lesson Introduction
Recommended Start Time: 10:15AM - 10:35AMHaggai was a prophet of the Lord. His name is related to festivals, feasts, and parties. He lived during the time after the Israelites came back from being captives in Babylon, when they were trying to rebuild their homes and get life back to normal. However, the people had forgotten to rebuild the Temple or to have any of the celebrations that God wanted them to have (and that was a lot - they basically had festivals every month and every year).
Haggai helped remind the people that they should celebrate being back home after so long and that they should thank God for freeing them.

Game 1- Body Balloon Relay
You’ll need:

Have kids form pairs and line up at one end of the room. Place half the balloons on one end of the room and the other half on the opposite end of the room. Explain that pairs will race back and forth together between the walls, each time adding a balloon to carry between them until they have all six balloons— in a certain order.
First, they’ll place a balloon between their foreheads.
Second, they’ll add a balloon between one of each of their palms.
Third, they’ll add a balloon between their other palms.
Fourth, they’ll add a balloon between their stomachs.
Fifth, they’ll each add a balloon between their knees for a total of six balloons between them.
Ask:
What was hardest about working together?
What was something good about working together?
When has working with someone helped you in life?
What did this experience teach you about working with others?
Game 2- Keep in the air
Put on some music and give the kids tasks to keep their balloons in the air. Some examples of tasks could be:
Use your left hand only
Do one spin around in between touching the balloon

When their balloon touches the floor they are out and the last one standing wins!
Play as many times as you want!

Materials needed from the cart:

Get the details by clicking here!
Directions
Teams must quickly line up according to specific criteria given. For example in order of shoe size, with the smallest shoe size in front and the largest shoe size at the back. A great game to help players get to know each other and to teach about salvation and the kingdom of heaven.
How to Play
Divide into teams of equal numbers.
(If you have fewer than 8 players, you can also play together as 1 team.)
For each round, each team races to line up according to the criteria given for that round.
Set an appropriate time limit for each round, depending on the ages of the players and the number of players in each team.
Play as many rounds as you like.
Here are some suggested criteria for each round:
Smallest to largest shoe sizes
Shortest to tallest
Youngest to oldest
Numerical order of day of birth regardless of year or month (i.e. those born on the 1st day of the month to those born on the 31st day of the month)
Alphabetical order of players’ first names
Alphabetical order of players’ last names
Number of letters in the players’ full names
Alphabetical order the name of the street where players live
Alphabetical order the name of the school that players attend
Smallest to largest hands
Shortest to longest hair
Colors of players’ shirts (arrange according to the order of the colors of the rainbow)
Distance between players’ homes and the venue where you are playing this game
Scoring
Award points to teams that line up in correct order, with quicker teams getting more points.
For example: If you have 4 teams playing, award 40, 30, 20 and 10 points (based on speed) to the teams that correctly form their lines according to the given criteria. No points are awarded to teams that are unable to correctly form their lines within the given time.
The team with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
Variations
To make the game more challenging (and funnier), try these variations:
Players must form their lines silently
Players can only use animal sounds to communicate with each other
Players must form their lines silently and can only use facial gestures to communicate with each other (for instance, by blinking, raising eyebrows, or silently mouthing words)
Activity 1 - Dance It Out
Once you're through the lesson/games use these to fill any remaining time, or the ideas listed below
Materials needed from the cart (varies based on the game you choose):
Christian just dance videos below
If they don't want to play the Christian Just Dance game they can play follow the leader.
Wrap It Up!
**Snacks can be given at this time, if needed**- Come together and sit in a circle to talk about what they learned today. Ask them the same questions that you asked at the beginning of the day. How are their answers different now that they know more? Talk about what they can go home and tell their family. This is also a time they can update their journals (big kids only) or color the pictures (littles).
- Ask if anyone has a prayer request/praise report. Pray over requests.
- Worship time - Have the kids go find a spot to themselves and have some time with God (play the song below for around 3/5 minutes).

Energy Release!
Last Minute Filler Ideas
- Have them gather around the table and draw a picture or write a letter to their families about what they learned today.
- Play a game of some sort. (If you have the hula hoops, have them join hands in a circle and pass the hula hoop around the circle without breaking their hands)
