Overview: Praising God simply means telling Him why and how much we love Him. It’s like paying a compliment to God for all the things we like about Him. We can praise God by singing songs, just saying “thanks” for all He’s blessed us with, and through pray. Just having a conversation, telling Him why we love Him. We do some of these at church every week. But you know what? God is with us all the time so we don’t have to wait to go to church to praise Him. We can do it anywhere at any time. Turn on Christian music and sing along while on your way to school or sports practice. Say a prayer while you wait at the bus stop and tell Him that you love Him and thank Him for something new every day. All of this counts as praise! And you know what? We can praise Him even when we’re having a bad day or when we’re scared or nervous. God deserves our praise all the time and in everything we do.

1. Give the kids a white sheet of paper and have them draw a brown tree trunk and branches.
2. Have them cut our small leaves and write one thing they are thankful for on each one before they glue it on their tree! This is a reminder that we can always find things to be thankful for and always praise God for these things and just for who He is.
Psalm 34: 1-10
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his saints, and those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Have everyone sit in a circle and chose someone to start.
That person will say two true things about themselves and one thing that isn't true. The group then has to guess which one is the fake one.
This activity leads to some really interesting conversations.
