Justice
What is justice? What is God’s idea of justice?
The prophet Amos had a message for the people of Israel: God was upset that they were not following His idea of justice. God had commanded the people to take care of the homeless, to be generous towards the poor, to make sure widows were okay, and for men to treat women with respect - basically, to treat everyone fairly, to be good to everyone, and to do the right thing. But the people of Israel were doing the exact opposite, and this really upset God!
Following God’s idea of justice means being nice and helpful to everyone, no matter what they look like, how they talk, where they’re from, how much money they have…the list goes on.
Amos 5:24 “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a mighty stream”
Justice creates more justice - when we do the right thing, it helps the people around us to do the right thing too! It’s like a river or a waterfall that never stops flowing.

Have all of the kids remove their socks and shoes and place them in one large pile.
Divide the kids into two teams.
Have one teammate at a time race down to the pile, put on ONE item (so one sock for the first trip down) and then come back and tag the next teammate. Each child should get 4 turns to race down (one time for each sock and one time for each shoe) and the team that completes the relay first wins!
