SAY I used to be afraid of___________. (Shareastoryinwhichyouwere fearful as a child.)
SAY When we are afraid and need courage who should we ask to help us? (God, God also gave us parents to help us if they are there when we need courage, a good friend, etc)
SAY Have any of you been afraid of something and you prayed asked God for help. Can you tell us about it? (Let them share)
SAY What does our verse say? GOD does NOT give us a Spirit of fear, BUT what DOES God gives us? POWER, LOVE and SELF-DISCIPLINE.
SAY Courage can be standing up to someone who’s doing something wrong, like SHADRACH, MESHACH AND ABED-NEGO did or having the self control to not hit someone when you’re angry. Courage can be trying some- thing new that ours parents say is okay or trying our best at something that is hard even though we may not finish first.
COURAGE IS ASKING GOD FOR HELP TO DO SOMETHING HE WANTS US TO DO.

What did Daniel have to be afraid of? (praying even though it was against the law, the lions eating him)
Why do you think Daniel was able to have courage even though he was in a scarey situation? (He was always praying to God, he had self-discipline to always pray, and he trusted God, he asked God for help, He knew his God was bigger than the king and bigger than the lions!)
When we are afraid, we need to ask God for courage. God is our shield, he protects us.When we trust in Him, we are helped. If you think about it, shields are only needed for battle, wars, and enemies. God never said that things in our lives would be easy. But He did say that He would never leave us alone, He would fight for us, and He would protect us as a shield so that we are helped.

Give the kids a piece of construction paper and have them write and decorate the verse as seen in the picture! One band should say "God Gave us a spirit that gives us POWER and love" with the word power being bold and bigger than the other words. The other band should say "God gave us a spirit that gives us power and LOVE" with the word love being bold and bigger than the other words.
They can size it on their arms so that when they put tape on it, it will slide on and off.

- Come together and sit in a circle to talk about what they learned today. Ask them the same questions that you asked at the beginning of the day. How are their answers different now that they know more? Talk about what they can go home and tell their family. This is also a time they can update their journals (big kids only) or color the pictures (littles).
- Ask if anyone has a prayer request/praise report. Pray over requests.
- Worship time - Have the kids go find a spot to themselves and have some time with God (play the song below for around 3/5 minutes).

- Have them gather around the table and draw a picture or write a letter to their families about what they learned today.
- Play a game of some sort. (If you have the hula hoops, have them join hands in a circle and pass the hula hoop around the circle without breaking their hands)
