Wise Men Visit Jesus
Wise Men Visit Jesus
10:00-10:15 - Get to know new kids, entertain early arrivals until lesson begins
Matthew 2
The wise men or magi were scholars, scientists, and astronomers from a far away country who saw a new star in the sky, one that was supposed to appear when the King of the Jews was born. They wanted to come and visit this new king, but when they asked King Herod about it, he became angry and sneakily sent the wise men to find baby Jesus so that he could kill him. The wise men were warned by God not to go back to Herod, and Joseph was told to run away to Egypt to keep Jesus safe.
When the wise men met baby Jesus, they gave him three things: gold, because he was King; frankincense, because he was holy; and myrrh, because he would die for our sins.
We may not have a lot of money and fancy things to give to Jesus, but we can give him our very best every day through our talents, our worship, and how we treat others.
