Do you remember what two books of the Bible we have covered? (Genesis & Exodus) Today we are going to learn about the third book of the Bible, Leviticus. This is the only week we are going to be talking about this book because it is fairly short and all about the same thing, how to give to and worship God and how to live a life for God. Leviticus is filled with laws and rules that told the children of Israel how to worship God and how to live their lives in a way that was pleasing to God. They were God's People and they lived differently that the other nations. They were to be holy like God was holy. God told them in this book how to live. Today, Christians are God's people and must live differently than the world around them. Today, the New Testament tells Christians how to live and how to worship God. Christians, too, are to be holy like God. (Ephesians 1:4)
This book is filled with different sacrifices that the Israelites offered to the LORD God, the laws and specific ways in which these offerings were offered, and how often they were to offered. The first seven chapters in this book of Leviticus told the people how to offer sacrifices to God. There were burnt offerings, will offerings, meat offerings, offerings of the firstfruits, peace offerings, sin offerings, wave offerings, and trespass offerings. God also made special provisions for the poor, so they had special rules as well.
In chapters eight and nine, it tells how Aaron and his sons had special jobs. They were the priests from the tribe of Levi who had special clothes and performed the sacrifices and offerings for the people, but the LORD still only talked to Moses.
When Moses had told all the people everything that the LORD wanted done and how He wanted it done, Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle. When they came out of the tabernacle, the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. There was fire that came from God and consumed or burnt up the offering that was on the altar. Let's turn to Leviticus 9:23, 24 and read what the people did after the fire burned up the offering on the altar. (Read verses.)
"23Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown."
What did the people do? (All of the people saw God's glory and fell on their faces and worshiped Him.)
What does it mean to live your life for God?
What are some examples of ways that you show the world and everyone around you that you are living your life for God and differently than people who are sinners?
Does anyone remember the ten commandments?
Do you think there are more ways that we can "be holy" the way God is holy?

Let the kids pick a piece of construction paper to make for their watch band
Fold the paper the width of how wide they want their watch band to be until it is completely folded. This will thicken up the watch band rather that only have one layer of paper that could easily rip.
Wrap the folded construction paper (now the band of the watch) around the child's wrist leaving plenty of room for them to slip their hand in and out of the watch comfortably so that they can reuse it.
Tape the band together forming the a circle around the child's wrist.
Let the kids cut out a circle from white printer paper so they can have a watch "face".
On the white circle, they can use markers to decorate their watch face with a hour/minute hand and the numbers 1-12.
Glue or tape the watch face to the band!
Connection:
In Leviticus they covered a lot of different ways that God's people could give offerings. While we may not give sacrifices in the same way that they did in Leviticus like building alters and sacrificing animals... we CAN give God offerings in other ways. Giving him time throughout our day is really important! How can we make some sacrifices with our time to better the Kingdom of God?

Directions
1. Begin by folding your paper in half so that each half is 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 in (hamburger style, NOT hot dog style)
2. Open your paper up and bring both edges of your paper to meet the middle so that when you are finished creasing these folds, your paper will be divided into four skinny rectangular sections.
3. Open your paper up and fold your paper in half to make two long rectangles measuring 4 3/4 in. x 11 in ( hot dog style)
4. Open your paper and lay it so that you have four small squares on top and four on bottom.
5. In the second column of your paper, you will draw a diamond shape along the length-wise center crease.
6. With your marker, draw two parallel lines connecting the left end of your diamond shape with the left edge of your paper.
7. Cut out your diamond shape and the two parallel lines.
8. Bring the edges of the cut lines together and tape so that the paper bows out.
