What is the idea for this project?

The original idea was to make a cool ring which I wouldn't be able to make in the Jewelry Shop

How do you want people to react to your piece?

I want people to see it in a home setting and think "wow that's so cool how was that made"

What inspires your piece?

I was inspired a lot by the voronoi rings on pinterest I saw as I kept looking. I was really inspired seeing what people in the upper echelon of 3D printing were capable of.

Is it a wearable piece?

It is not but I guess a napkin could wear it.

Does it have functionality?

It will hold napkins for the restaurant we have at home and look pretty.

My project went a couple directions, I originally wanted to do a ring (pretty unique right) but when I printed my prototype I realized it looked a lot like a napkin ring that we would use at home. I also thought that was more unique so I did a lil' pivot.

This was the final iteration of my rhino file which I realized was a little too complex for a ring.

I left my prototype at home. I showed my mom then never took it back.

Challenges:

I had a lot of trouble because of some mathy things which had to do with curves.
- SurfaceMorph
- ModifyCurve
- Pipe
- Wrap-around-curve
I had a lot of trouble when it came to printability of my stuff.
I struggled with understanding how pipe worked and how it worked specifically with the curves I was making.
