My Idea for this project was to create chess pieces, and I knew from the last project that in grasshopper I could use graph mapper to make curved/twisted pieces, so I found some pieces online that gave me some ideas on what to do.
Creating the pieces was pretty straight forward but each piece took a really long time to design, and I also had trouble figruing out how to turn them into solids because they're not normal shapes.
I made all my pieces through grasshopper using grass mapper as my main component to give them the curved twisted shape. I then baked the components to get them into rhino, and from there I changed the dimensions and made them solid objects.
My plan is to print half of the set in shapeways with sandstone and the other half on these printers using pla in order to get the full set.
